L’Oréal & UNESCO: an international company and a UN organization join forces to fight the spread and impact of AIDS by means of a programme targeted at hairdressing professionals everywhere in the world.
UNESCO and L’Oréal signed a cooperation agreement on May 3, 2005. L’Oréal’s educational culture, based on a corporate philosophy of health, hygiene and safety and expressed through its long-established global training network, is enhanced by partnership with UNESCO and its international mandate in education. Complementary skills and experience, and access to existing knowledge about HIV and AIDS prevention, care and treatment programmes enabled the partnership that created HAIRDRESSERS AGAINST AIDS.
HAIR Raising is a month-long initiative which is taking place at salons across the U.S. Throughout the month of May, participating salons will be hosting Raffles, Cut a thons as well as asking each patron for a donation of $2 or more upon the completion of their services to benefit Children’s Hospital Boston.
Children’s Hospital Boston has an unparalleled reputation for developing breakthroughs in the fields of cardiology, cancer, neurology, organ transplant and much more. Their herculean efforts on behalf of critically-ill children have led to discoveries that have life-saving repercussions for people of all ages. CHB relies on charitable contributions to fund much of this research. We cannot afford to let the current economic climate handicap their progress, so the salon industry is coming together in an unprecedented fundraising effort for CHB.
