Sunday, July 31, 2011, was a day that will last forever in my memory… I won the NAHA (North American Hairstylist Awards) Masters Stylist of The Year Award, this is the only category that is ‘By Invitation Only’ which makes it even more special to enter, be nominated as a Finalist and WIN! I’m amazed that not everyone knows about NAHA which IS our industry Oscars!
Winning an award can escalate our career to the next level, I can testify to that having won this, the same category back in 2002, it did amazing things for me, since then I have been around the World a few times and had too many experiences to mention here, checkout my website to read more.
To be judged and recognized by people we admire, aspire to be like and call our heroes is humbling. The judges are Icons of the industry like Robert Lobetta and Vivienne MacKinder, our peers and magazine editors these people know what they’re looking for when it comes to a collection of images that represent the entered category, they are the ones who have the power to publish us, invite us to appear on stages around the globe and, to be approached by major companies to be their Artistic Directors this is how we can grow beyond our wildest dreams, feel accomplished and rich in our hearts.
